By the end of August, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) formally granted the LoI to a 50MW PV project developed by CHINT Solar Bangladesh, a subsidiary of the CHINT Solar. This marked the milestone for the company's future development in Bangladesh, as well as the approval to the company's capability of doing green field project.
 
This project is located at Dimla, a town belonging to Rangpur in the northwest of the country. The planned capacity is 50MWac (70MWdc), after years' efforts in the land acquisition, eco assessment and tariff negotiation with CCGP (Cabinet of Committee on Government Purchase), CHINT Solar come finally come to the milestone of Letter of Intent (LoT).

The land occupation of this project is 170 acres, with a topographic feature of mudflat next to the riverbank. This special terrain does not bother too much since CHINT Solar has accumulated abundant experience in projects of similar nature along the east coast of China.

The Bangladesh has big potential for PV projects thanks to its solar resources and upon its connection to grid, this project is expected to contribute over 90 million kWh of green energy to neighborhood and to the country.

As the LoI is granted, the project is coming a new stage where the PPA, financing, and EPC contraction are about to start.
